Langaller Farm

 Langaller Farm

Welcome to the Langaller Farm website.

The Upham family have farmed and loved Langaller Farm since it was purchased in 1951 by my grandfather William Upham. It was then taken on by his son, my father, Hedley who increased and improved the herd of milking cows to 140 pure-bred Holstein Friesian in the 70’s and 80’s. In turn my brother Stewart and I took over the reins. Horses were an interest for Dad who rode hunting regularly and always had a mare or 2 to breed from but they became my full time passion and in 1998 the first stallions arrived.

All Fair, a Thoroughbred HIS stallion and Hazaaf, a winner on the flat. Through my naivety I rode them both and hunted them and this quickly gained them a good number of local mares, and from further afield too. In 2000 it was decided to sell the cows and go full time into the breeding and producing business, not an easy decision and I still miss my cows.

More stallions arrived, and over the last 2 decades Langaller Farm has stood some of the best stallions over a number of disciplines and breeds. Top competition sires such as Kuwait Beach, Catherston Dazzler, Catherston Liberator, Matinee Du Madon and Primitive Proposal have stood at stud with us. Currently there are 10 in residence the stallion yard including coloureds Keady Star and his ADV BE son Langaller Star Maker, TB’s Forever Now and Langaller King’s Manna, Sports Horses Langaller Starring Role and Johnson’s Dancer, Irish Draught Gorseyleys Hunter’s Moon, the Class 1 Connemara Newtown Pedro and Riding Pony/Hack Colbeach Nightlight and Barkway Earlybird.

As well as the breeding interest, showing is another passion that has been handed down through the generations. We produce a number of in hand youngsters and broodmares for the show ring. We have enjoyed reasonable success at County and National level including qualifying for HOYS finals on a few occasions.

A number of homebred young horses and foals are offered for sale each year and we get immense pleasure from following horses carrying the Langaller/Trenavey prefix.
